SB 55 – Providing Epinephrine Autoinjectors to Schools

Senate Bill 55 is a necessary bill that will supply epinephrine autoinjectors to public and charter schools if an employee or school agent has completed a training program on how to use the medicine. Epinephrine autoinjectors help treat someone who is experiencing a severe allergic reaction, known as anaphylaxis, which can result in swelling of the throat or airway.

According to the bill, before a trained individual administers an epinephrine autoinjector, the individual must notify EMS immediately, and after administration, must report the administration to the prescribing health-care provider.
