Last year, the General Assembly passed and Governor Carney signed House Bill 20, which required all public and charter schools which have students in grades 6-12 to provide free feminine hygiene products for the girls in the school. That bill passed unanimously.
So Senator Kyle Evans Gay is back with a bill, Senate Bill 205, that expands the availability of free feminine hygiene products to all public and charter schools that have grades 4 through 6.
With 1 out of 5 teenagers struggling to afford period products, this will increase access to these essential supplies for low-income students.
