Sokola Removes Brown from Judiciary Committee Chairmanship

Delaware Senate President Pro Tempore Dave Sokola issued the following statement Thursday regarding the Senate Judiciary Committee:  “Yesterday, I shared with Senator Brown that, effective immediately, I would be removing him from his Chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Senator Kyle Evans Gay will preside over the Senate Judiciary Committee going forward.  I believe this step is necessary to allow the Committee to continue its critical work without distraction.”

Senator Sokola has handed this situation well so far and Brown’s removal from the chairmanship for the time being (while his criminal case is resolved) seems like a necessary and good step to take if Brown is not going to resign immediately. Seems like a good idea not to have a Judiciary Chairman who recently was arrested for assaulting someone. Senator Kyle Evans Gay will be a superb chairwoman.

Delaware politics from a liberal, progressive and Democratic perspective. Keep Delaware Blue.
