Formerly a quarry for the blue rock you see all around town (alas, not granite, but gneiss, despite what we locals like to call it). Along the walk in Alapocas Run State Park there are signboards that illustrate the marvelous cable system that carried blocks of cut stone across the Brandywine to flatcars on the train tracks on the south side.
