HB107 seems simple enough. For those who have received a ticket through the mail, like a red light traffic camera violation, or a toll booth violation, or speed violation, if you do not pay them online immediately, you might start accruing fines and late fees that can be rather hefty, and you might not be aware of it until you finally pay it and are confronted with a much larger bill than you thought you had to pay.
This bill will require DelDOT to notify by certified mail an owner of the vehicle that is subject to a violation when that owner’s outstanding fines, penalties, and administrative fees exceed $500 and when the owner is subject to enhanced penalties.
This bill is in the House Public Safety & Homeland Security committee waiting for consideration. Given the bipartisan sponsorship, it should pass easily.
WHERE IS THE BILL? House Public Safety & Homeland Security committee as of 4/4/19
