Beto O’Rourke’s campaign announced that he raised $9.4 million in the first quarter, 18 days after launching his 2020 bid. O’Rourke raised an average of $520,000 per day, with 218,000 total donations.
Asked how much trust they placed in President Trump or congressional Republicans to protect or improve the health care system, 58% of voters said “not much” or “none at all,” according to the latest Politico/Morning Consult poll.
By contrast, a 53% majority of the electorate said they had “a lot” or “some” trust in Democrats on the same question.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and political advisers around him have started to tell top Democrats he plans to launch a presidential campaign this month, CNN reports.
“The California Democrat, a 38-year-old four-term congressman from the Bay Area, has made five trips to Iowa and three trips to New Hampshire since the 2018 midterms. He will return to the Granite State Saturday.”
“Sen. Bernie Sanders will participate in a town hall hosted by Fox News later this month,” Politico reports. “The town hall is slated for April 15 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and will focus on economy and jobs.”

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) “is expected to announce a presidential campaign this week,” several sources told BuzzFeed News.
“Ryan is scheduled to appear Thursday on The View, a popular talk show destination for national politicians. He is also planning a Saturday rally in Youngstown. Leaders from local organized labor — long a staple of his base — have been invited to attend.”

Would you mind explaining why FOX hosting Bernie Sanders for a Town Hall meeting in northeast working class Pennsylvania is “unbelievable”? Might it be that they are trying to raise his credibility, hard as that is to do, in a part of a battleground state essential to a Biden candidacy? You have to remember, Jack, that in addition to bias, Fox goes further and runs a full-out propaganda machine tied to the WH. Take Fox off the air altogether for not meeting national broadcast standards. Then this question wouldn’t be a question.
Bernie is legitimatizing a Republican Propaganda Channel that is openly biased against progressives and liberals and openly partisan against Democrats. He is lending Fox his credibility and giving Fox his seal of approval. That’s fucking unbelievable.

I don’t care if Bernie does this. What I don’t understand is why any Dem/Progressive would enter into an ambush situation, one where they have no control. If Elizabeth Warren went on FOX it would be 100% Native American questions. Surely there are huge risks for Bernie. Does he really expect to be treated fairly? If so, he’d be the only Dem to feel this way.
There are voters Democrats can’t get — unless they are willing to throw much of their own base under the bus. A thing Bernie has no issues with. But Democrats looking for voters on the Trump propaganda channel is a waste of energy, but hey. The folks who are tuned into Fox aren’t voting for Democrats no way no how.

Pandora, I’m more inclined to agree with your take…. but Bernie has been getting better at the clap-backs. He’s clearly paying attention to AOC and Omar on that one. I think of all the Dems in the field, he’s the most likely to embarrass the moderators. Remember, the policies that he supports that the Dem party has adopted as their own are popular with fox news viewers (according to fox’s own polling) Will they pre-screen questions? of course. Will there be plants to ask about his essays? likely.
