It looks like the General Assembly will be voting on a gas tax this session, just not one on gas to be used in cars. State Representative Ed Osienski, with bipartisan co-sponsorship, has introduced two bills that will require certain aircraft pay an annual fee and that will levy a 5 cent a gallon tax on aviation jet fuel. The money raised by these two bills will be deposited into the Transportation Trust Fund, which I suppose will be used for road infrastructure projects.
HB86is the bill that imposes a 5 cent per gallon tax on certain aviation jet fuel.

HB84 is the bill that requires certain registered aircraft owners to pay an annual fee. The bill does provide exceptions for registered aircraft based in this State.
