Polling Report for September 11, 2018

A new CNN/SSRS poll finds President Trump’s approval rating has dropped six percentage points in the last month, 36% to 58%.

“Among independents, the drop has been sharper, from 47% approval last month to 31% now. That’s 4 points below his previous 2018 low of 35% approval among political independents in CNN polling, and 1 point below his previous all-time low among independents in CNN polling, reached in November 2017.”

“Trump’s numbers have slipped amid the release of an op-ed in The New York Times and reports about the Bob Woodward book that will be released Tuesday. Both paint a picture of a White House in chaos, with staffers actively thwarting the President’s agenda.”

A new Monmouth poll in eight competitive congressional districts — CA-48, PA-1, PA-17, NJ-3, NJ-11, OH-12, VA-10 and WV-3 — finds support is evenly divided between the Democratic and the Republican candidates for Congress, 43% to 42%.

The Democratic advantage increases slightly among likely voters, 47% to 43%.

Key takeaway: Republicans routinely won these eight districts by double digit margins in recent election cycles.

Said pollster Patrick Murray: “These findings do not predict that Democrats are going to sweep these eight House contests. But they do indicate that the Republican candidate in each of these districts is facing an unprecedented challenge to hold that seat.”

A new Quinnipiac poll finds American voters believe the anonymous allegations that senior aides to President Trump work behind his back to keep him from making what the aides believe are bad decisions, 55% to 28%.

Republicans don’t believe these accounts by a 52% to 27% margin, the only listed party, gender, education, age or racial group which does not believe that aides are working behind the president’s back.

Meanwhile, voters disapprove of the job Trump is doing, 54% to 38%.

A new Siena poll in New York finds Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has extended his lead over primary challenger Cynthia Nixon (D) to 41 points, 63% to 22%.

Said pollster Steven Greenberg: “Cuomo has a lead of at least 20 points with every demographic group and leads by at least 30 points in every region of the state.”

  1. Forgot to mention this one:

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2018/senate/az/arizona_senate_mcsally_vs_sinema-6328.html

No chance you take the Senate without this one.

Guess pink tutu wearing protesters don’t go over well with the good people of Arizona.

    • Did you even look at the poll? The average of all the polls has Sinema up between 1 and 2%.

      Better start wearing dark pants.

    • Also, there are no good people in Arizona, which is why I no longer vacation there.

  2. I’m sure they miss ya, Alby.

    • Damn right they miss the tourist dollars. Judging by your fretting over your 401k, I spend a lot more on that than you do.

  3. Can’t honestly say Arizona is high on my list of places to spend my hard earned $.

    • I love the scenery and the hiking there is great. I miss it, but won’t return until the current crop of snowbirds dies off. Midwesterners’ “niceness” only manifests if you’re white.
