Republicans back to zero in AG candidates

Former prosecutor Peggy Marshall Thomas, the Republican Party’s only candidate for state attorney general, withdrew from the race last week for personal family reasons.

“After talking with my family this weekend, I have made the very difficult decision to withdraw from the Attorney General race,” she said. “I want to thank the many people who worked to support my campaign and shared my vision for the Department of Justice.”

The GOP will have until September 4 to nominate someone for the post.  If they don’t, then the winner of the four way Democratic primary featuring Chris Johnson, Kathleen Jennings, Lakresha Roberts and Tim Mullaney will essentially be elected Attorney General by default.

Delaware politics from a liberal, progressive and Democratic perspective. Keep Delaware Blue.

So @MatthewCBittle on Twitter reports just now that there may be a candidate filing tomorrow. “Apparently it’s an intriguing choice.”
