The Civic League of New Castle County (CLNCC) is partnering with Network Delaware to sponsor the New Castle County Council Candidate Forum. This forum will feature the Democratic primary candidates in the 1st, 4th and 6th Districts. Those candidates are:
1st District: Kenneth Woods v. Jordyn Pusey
4th District: Penrose Hollins v. Vincent White
6th District: William Powers v. David Carter
The forum will be an hour and a half with all six candidates sharing the podium for Q and A via written questions from co-sponsors and then from the general public. County races do not get the attention they deserve, because the most local issues are the issues that are actually going to affect you most directly. Tax increases, local services, more development and the resulting strain on schools and services and roads.
So when and where is this taking place?
When: Thursday, August 23rd from 6:30pm to 8pm
Where: Mill Creek Fire Company’s Chambers Memorial Hall located at 3900 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
Meanwhile, this coming Monday evening, the A. Philip Randolph Institute Delaware Chapter and the Canaan Baptist Church will be holding a Candidates Form and a Voter Registration Drive.
When: Monday, August 20, 2018, 6:30 p.m.
Where: 3011 New Castle Ave., New Castle, DE 19720
There is no information about what candidates will be appearing, but the forum will be moderated by Canaan Baptist Church’s Rev. Dr. Christopher Alan Bullock.
An update on Thursday’s NCC Council primary forum: Penrose Hollins and Ken Woods have conflicts and have sent regrets. Bill Powers, inexplicably, has not returned numerous emails or phone messages. As President of CLNCC, I sent the initial email invitations a month ago. All of the challengers will be attending so this is a real missed opportunity for the incumbents to defend their records.
