Dem Candidate Ralph Taylor (RD 31) is Funded by Republicans

Ralph Taylor is running as a Democrat in a primary against Sean Lynn. Not sure that Taylor is a Democrat, though, because almost half of his campaign donations are from the GOP. Not the least of which is the Delaware Foundation for Legislative Action (Delaware Sportsmen)and John Sigler. Other names are GOP on this list as well, and you can verify via Voter Records.  EDIT: This is a little fuzzy, but you can see from the highlights the GOP contributions to his campaign.  And when the Chair of the local GOPs contributes you a Democratic primary campaign, you know they are just trying to undermine Lynn here.

Why are the GOP funding his campaign? Taylor’s website is minimal — no positions, no resume, just a link to donate. There’s more information on Taylor’s Facebook page, but you still can’t tell what he is running on.

We know Sean Lynn is a genuine Democratic champion, working every day to try to help the lives of real working people in his District. Delaware’s GOP has a difficult enough time getting people to vote for them and now they need to dress someone up as a Democrat to see if anyone will vote for them.

We are not fooled. Sean Lynn is among the best the State has. Help him get re-elected

ps. Campaign Finance reports are in! As soon as me and Cassandra and others are back from our travels, we’ll start sorting through those for you.

  1. How much is Sean Lynn paying you? LOL. People from Dover know Ralph. He’s a retired Dover police officer who now runs a nice small business (everyone has seen the Bug Guy doing his rounds), and is also an elected school board member. He’s been a Democrat longer than Sean and will do better for the party. Clearly you’re not from here, as you don’t know Ralph, and you don’t even know that most people from Dover have come to despise Lynn: he’s an ass and a professional politician/lawyer who puts his personal political ambitions ahead of the district. Go ahead, let him tell you about how he’ll be Governor one day! Yuck!!!

The people of Dover admire and love Sean Lynn. He spends much his personal time (and resources) helping those in need. He’s a selfless servant. I am but one, (of many), who feel this way about Sean Lynn. His priority has always been the betterment of others, not himself. He’s a very humble and kind individual. I think he is the voice of many. He hears the small, weak voices, and he speaks loudly for them. We should be so lucky to have someone like him speaking on our behalf. Sean will continue to do great things in his lifetime.

  2. It’s not just who’s supporting him, it’s what he’s saying.

Please listen to Mr. Taylor’s positions on the Second Amendmentand the Death Penalty:

  3. It matters not, No Retired Police, not now ,not ever. They are all authoritarians and all much more like the Republicans than they care to admit. Young “Benjamin” is obviously in thrall to the Taylor campaign.

So if you read this, it looks as though the GOP know that their own candidates can’t get it done, so they are co-opting Taylor. No wonder he hasn’t put anything up on his web page, but I don’t think many Dems will be fooled by this:

And direct evidence of the GOP monkey-wrenching (from Jonathan Contant AND from Dam Chick writing on David Anderson’s page –he is running in the GOP primary for this seat)this election:

One would expect that Anderson would be working at nailing down his own primary before endorsing in the Democratic one. Still. One wonders if Mr. Taylor thinks these GOP endorsements coming from a GOP primary candidate’s page are appropriate.

And then we have this — apparently the beef against Sean Lynn is that he does not privilege white people enough:

or maybe that Sean is not tough enough on his minority constituents:

Maybe this poster thinks that Mr. Taylor will be more compliant with the call for white privilege rather than justice for all here.

  7. I am surprised at how far reaching this blog sometimes goes. It is better than going to the State Fair.

You do realize that Ralph Taylor is a BLACK DEMOCRAT, don’t you? Do some homework, he has ALWAYS been a democrat and he comes from a family of Democrats. Most of the people here are looking rather foolish with their ridiculous accusations.

We know who he is all right. There’s an actual PICTURE of him at the top of this post. But it sure is interesting that his most visible support is from the GOP. Which is still the point of this post.

  8. People present at a debate involving Mr Tailor say that Apparently he said:

He opposes a womans right to choice
    He wants prayer in school
    He opposes gun control
    He supports the death penalty

Lining that up to the Party Platform doesn’t sound like a D?

Add that passed Republican aids have been campaigning for him all over FB.

The post that brought me to this site says that he told people he was going to run as an R.

  9. That post said former R State Rep Nancy Wagner is helping Taylor

Any race involving an incumbent is about that incumbent. Does the incumbent deserve re-election. If the answer is “no”, you next look at the opponent and ask if the opponent is better. In this race there is no need to ask the second question. Sean Lynn has been an excellent representative of the 31st district and continues the progressive ways and leadership of his predecessor, Darryl Scott. Sean protects and advocates for his district and offers well-reasoned positions on matters that should be of concern to all of Delaware.

I worked with Sean during my service as Chief Deputy Insurance Commissioner and was impressed by his quiet and unflustered for motorcycle helmet laws and the banning of the death penalty. As Political VP of Delaware Stonewall PAC, I was honored to announce his unanimous endorsement by the Stonewall board for his support for equal rights.

The 31st district and all of Delaware would be well-served by keeping Sean Lynn in the General Assembly.

  11. Kevin Ohlandt I’m just going to jump in here. Ralph, I talked with you before a Capital Board meeting and you told me you wanted to run a clean campaign. Which I admire. With that being said, your supporters have gone after Sean with a tenacity and viciousness I haven’t seen in Delaware politics in some time. I can’t speak for how anyone should run a campaign but if it were me and my supporters were engaging in that type of activity, I would publicly ask them to stop. In terms of your lifelong Democrat status, I was there when me, you, and Donyale Hall were talking at the Dover Christmas Tree lighting last December. You said you were definitely going to run but you had not decided which party you were going to run under. In addition, in 2016, when you brought me to the Dover Rotary Club when I was running for Capital School Board, you talked about possibly running that year and once again you were not sure which party you would run under. I have heard this echoed from several others in the community. So the whole ruse thing does have merit. In terms of Sean’s statement, there has been a bucketload of hate shoveled his way lately, mostly from Sam Chick. When Sean is talking about this in his statement, I don’t believe it was directed at you, but the odd group of Dover Republicans who are begging Democrats to vote for you. Which has to be one of the oddest things I’ve ever seen in Delaware politics. I have no skin in the game with this race as neither of you are in my district. And as I told you both at a forum a few weeks ago, even though I am a registered Democrat, I wouldn’t be endorsing either of you due to potential conflictss of interest in my personal life. But as an active Delaware political observer, I would love to see you, Ralph, telling folks to cool off as it has gotten very ugly and there have been concerted efforts to falsely label Sean Lynn.

To clarify truthy’s comment here, this is a cut and paste of a FB comment Kevin made (not sure what page). But Kevin is a longtime Dover resident and activist and noting that the GOP dirty tricks is basically using Mr. Taylor’s campaign to criticize Sean Lynn. Why they need Mr. Taylor as their stalking horse is beyond me. But there you go.

Mr. Tailor’s “platform” makes no cents at all.

Please provide his position on these issues, sense you seem to speak for him:

    1. Does he support a womans right to choice?
    2. Does he support reasonable gun control? including large capacity magazine bans and assault weapon bans?
    3. does he support gay marriage?
    4. does he support praying in school?
    5. where is he on regulation 225?
    6. does he oppose reinstatement of the death penalty even though it hurts afro americans?

    Please answer.

  13. matty dawg

    and, does he denounce:

    1. rob kellams posts above?
    2. the independent times?
