Daily Delawhere for July 10, 2018

The oldest building in Delaware is the Ryves Holt House, on 2nd Street in Lewes, built around 1685. The house is named for Ryves Holt, a captain and lawyer who lived in the house beginning in 1723. Photo by xzmattzx.

  1. Maybe eventually they can restore this piece off history in period style. Lose the metal roof and replace with cedar shake, get rid of the stucco on the chimney, and put in all true divided light windows for a start.

    • The actual part of the house that dates back to 1685 is most likely tiny, suspect it’s at best half of the current house. However I do agree it could be much better done.
