  1. Point of Order

I feel a Pulitzer prize coming on.

  2. Appropriate and well deserved, should depict the Republicans running for cover in the back round. And finding none.

  3. 6 more years, kids. Wonder if he gets the cover again when he wins the Nobel Peace Prize?

    • Doubtful.

Donald Trump is “no longer the moral leader of his country or the world”, according to a key member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee which annually awards the Nobel Peace Prize

    • cassandram

There are no participation prizes, Trumpster Snowflakes!

    • The photo shows what Trump is doing to children – separating them from their parents.

If we wanted to be accurate the photo would show thousands of sobbing children.

      • Really? Thousands of these children yet somehow every photo seems to be either staged or inaccurately represented. Fascinating.

    • meatball

Yes, trump isn’t really that tall.

  4. WOW. And what about the Paret’s of these children.
Have they no responsibility for their actions?
What parent puts their flesh and blood in this situation?
If it is for Asylum, why not go the legal route, instead of putting your children in arms way?

They know the laws of the United States, so why are they doing it?
And what about their government, I guess no responsibility their either?

    • Spelling mistakes for for Al’s benefit only;)

    • “If it is for Asylum, why not go the legal route, instead of putting your children in arms way?”

      Yeah, so there’s this

      §1158. Asylum
      (a) Authority to apply for asylum
      (1) In general

Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien’s status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title. [emphasis mine – so Anono may learn)

  5. Don’t know how many are actually, applying for Asylum. They are just crossing the border anywhere.

    https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/refugees-asylum/asylum

Every year people come to the United States seeking protection because they have suffered persecution or fear that they will suffer persecution due to:

    Race
    Religion
    Nationality
Membership in a particular social group
    Political opinion

If you are eligible for asylum you may be permitted to remain in the United States. To apply for Asylum, file a Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, within one year of your arrival to the United States. There is no fee to apply for asylum.

You may include your spouse and children who are in the United States on your application at the time you file or at any time until a final decision is made on your case. To include your child on your application, the child must be under 21 and unmarried. For more information see our Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal page.

Most of the people showing up at the border are trying to apply for asylum. You won’t find many people objecting to all of them going through due process. They don’t need to be treated like animals to do that, however.

    • I know that, anono. The point is, you didn’t know that people do not need to apply for asylum at a designated port of arrival. If you’d known that you wouldn’t have based your entire point on this: “If it is for Asylum, why not go the legal route, instead of putting your children in arms way?” Which was, yet again, wrong.

      • Read it again, Pandora. Who do you give the paperwork too????

    • elizabeth allen

They are not crossing the border (anywhere) the US shut down the asylum pathway, telling them “there is no more room, come back later. Some tried every day and were given the same crap. They wanted them to enter illegally, so they could bust them, steal their kids and deport them without due process…Trump is worse than a political dictator, he is cruel, barbaric and inhumane.

Time is standing by its cover. Editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal says in a statement: “The June 12 photograph of the 2-year-old Honduran girl became the most visible symbol of the ongoing immigration debate in America for a reason: Under the policy enforced by the administration, prior to its reversal this week, those who crossed the border illegally were criminally prosecuted, which in turn resulted in the separation of children and parents. Our cover and our reporting capture the stakes of this moment.”

Most magazine covers are not reporting. And Time Covers particularly reflect the stakes of the moment or current zeitgeist. That little girl crying with her momma and the Border agent went viral for a reason. It’s representative of all of the kids who are being specifically hurt by Americans as they get to the border.

    • “It’s representative of all of the kids who are being specifically hurt by Americans as they get to the border.”

IT’S THEIR PARENT’S WHO ARE DOING IT TO THEM!! They know the law and they keep doing the same thing. We are protecting our borders.

      • Why do you keep saying “they know the law” when there’s no evidence that’s the case? Where would they learn this?

What are you protecting the borders from? Without these policies illegal crossings were at a 46-year low.

        • Really, you don’t think they hear about what is going on, from family members who are already here? Get your head out of the sand, Al!

          • No, I don’t. You don’t know what you’re talking about, you’re just pulling opinions out of your ass. And the fact that you think Trump is right reveals you as a piece of shit. If I knew who you were I’d tell you to your face.

Why don’t you spread your ignorance, like the manure it is, on somebody else’s field? There are lots of sites for mouth-breathing ignorami such as you. You are not wanted here, though you’re too rude and stupid to realize it.

          • elizabeth allen

“hear about”, really? Trump and his regime change the policy every day. Could yout
r5th grader understand what the US law is? All they know is if you appear at the border seeking asylum (to save your life) you are supposed to enter the system without being arrested, or charged with a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor not a felony. You dont get placed in shackles (arms and legs) all your stuff taken. They make a list of your stuff, but no list with your childs name on it…so they can lose them? Focus on the children, put in cages and this regime cant tell them where they are?

      • cassandram

Their parents are fleeing horrific circumstances including domestic abuse. No parents put their kid in this kind of danger unless staying is the bigger danger. You may not understand that and you are lucky for that. The Obama Admin found a way to get people who came here for asylum through due process without a policy of parental separation. They did it when the kid was not in the company of a family member or were otherwise in some danger. It was not routine. And I will remind you that there was a reason why Hispanic activists called Obama the Deporter In Chief. Deportations were a regular business and he deported more people than any other President in the 20th century. But done in accordance with the law and done as humanely as possible. Unlike this fool who thinks that images of brown people being abused at the border are good politics,

        • “Unlike this fool who thinks that images of brown people being abused at the border are good politics,”

There you go, making it a race issue!! Same as Goodwin’s Law, once you bring race into it, the conversation is over and you always do it, Cassandra! Cassandra, you’re a smart women………

          • cassandram

You can make the case that it isn’t a race issue or you can shut up. Of course it is about race. No one is getting their panties in a twist over the Russians coming here to have their anchor babies.

          • Trump has made it about race (he makes everything about race – he knows what his base likes). Trump: “we should have more people from Norway.” Hmmm… why Norway?

And you don’t get to decide when a conversation is over.

          • “once you bring race into it, the conversation is over ”

Why are you conversing with people you don’t agree with and whose arguments in favor of their positions go over your head?

You still haven’t looked up the Dunning Kruger effect, have you? Lazy, aren’t you.

          • elizabeth allen

It is a race issue….white people welcome, brown, black, yellow get deported.

        • You really think that domestic abuse should qualify someone for asylum?

Asylum is for political refugees. Not for gang violence, not for domestic abuse. For those that are systematically persecuted by their government.

          a·sy·lum
          noun
          1. the protection granted by a nation to someone who has left their native country as a political refugee.

          • Mitch Crane

Please…NEVER opine on the meaning of a legal term by looking it up in a dictionary. The dictionary definition of “asylum” has no legal weight. To determine what asylum requirements are in the US, one would first look at the law (USC 1101 (a) (42) (A) and THEN research federal court decisions. The law allows someone (and spouse and children) to seek asylum if they claim persecution based on Race, Religion, Nationality, Membership in a certain Social Group,or Political Opinion. Persecution has been successfully argued not just when that persecution comes from the government, but also when the government has refused or failed to protect its citizens against gang violence.

Additionally, one must ENTER the United States before asylum can be requested. Entering is coming onto US territory by any means (designated border crossings, non-designated legal border crossings, US Embassies and Consulates.

            • That would require leaving his basement.

            • And domestic violence?

              • Why are you against taking them in?

                • He’s against taking them in because he doesn’t think beating a women is that serious a reason. He doesn’t understand (or care) that leaving a domestic abuser who’s actions are sanctioned (or ignored, or encouraged) by the government is a valid reason.

And yet, I’d bet good money, that he’s said that he doesn’t understand why an abused women in the US doesn’t just leave.

      • elizabeth allen

How can a child from 3 months to 17 who speak a different language, don’t understand our laws, dont know where to go to file legally, when those speaking to them are speaking ONLY in English. Children who came alone are being taken before a judge, they have no lawyer, advocate or family member with them, and you expect that child to understand these convoluted policies? Their parents and the child have traveled mostly by foot for 2000 miles, running from gangs who put girls out to prostitute and boys to sell drugs, If you dont go along with them, they kill your whole family, do you get that Anono? And no YOU dont know the law…we are not protecting our borders, we are keeping brown people out so we can bring WHITE europeans etc IN. Why did they steal their children? Do they want to indoctrinate them into their cult thinking? Do they want to increase their base which gets smaller, because we dont have a republican party anymore, we have the Trump party, a party of alt right, klansman, neo nazis who under Trump are doing these illegal, unconstitutional actions.

  7. Our immigration system is severely broken! We need to protect our borders!!
Clinton or Obama did not fix it!

This is another area that needs to be addressed:
    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/birth-tourism-brings-russian-baby-boom-miami-n836121

Look at any other countries, they protect their borders. For example:
    https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/ente/goin/monitoring-people-movement#tab-content-1

    • Myth No. 1: Undocumented immigrants are flooding into the United States

In fiscal 2017, apprehensions of immigrants entering illegally at the Southwest border (a proxy for the total number of individuals crossing the border illegally) hit their lowest level in 46 years.

      • Great, never said anything about that, so your point is mute!

        • Moot, moron.

          • I do that on perpose, so you have something to do, from you former urinal position.

            • No you don’t. Your lack of knowledge about the language simply mirrors you lack of knowledge about every subject you’re ever had an opinion on.

Since you’re so big on insulting people for their profession, what did you do? I assume you’re retired and older, and, since you spend lots of time here, I assume you don’t have anything useful to do and the equipment won’t well enough for you to actually jerk off.

              • Wasn’t insulting your position, just the company you worked for.

“Your lack of knowledge about the language simply mirrors you lack of knowledge about every subject”

“and the equipment won’t well enough for you to actually jerk off.”

And you question my grammar????? This really made me laugh, thanks Alby!!!

                • Even that is bullshit. You never mention the company.

So what did you do for a living, or has the cat got your tongue?

Ralph Nader asks Former First Ladies: “Why no heart-felt concerns for tens of thousands of children killed or seriously maimed” by their husband’s wars?

    https://twitter.com/commondreams/status/1010279968557891584

Corporate issue D and R politicians aren’t really troubled by dead and maimed kids, they just troubled when they are not in charge.

Anono: It’s “Godwin’s law” and “moot.” You Trump people are stupid in so many ways.
