At 3 pm, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, the House Revenue Committee will hold a hearing on HB 206, which would create two new taxable income brackets for high income earners in Delaware. Delaware’s current top tax bracket is 6.8% for taxable income over $60,000. HB 106 creates a new tax bracket at $125,000 with a rate of 7.10%, and an additional bracket of $250,000 with a rate of 7.85%.
From 2009 to 2012 the income of the top 1% of Delawareans grew 15%. In the same period the income of the other 99% fell 1.6%. Surely those who have benefited most economically can afford to be taxed at a slightly higher rate than those of us who were left behind. Indeed, it is beyond insane that someone making 60k is paying the same tax rate as someone earning 6 million or 600,000k a year. The 99% have paid their fair share in taxes, and they have sacrificed over the years in benefit and service cuts. It is now time for the wealthy to sacrifice just a little bit.
The bill’s sponsor, Rep. John Kowalko, is asking that you come and show your support. If you wish, you can testify. Testimony is usually limited to three (3) minutes. If you cannot attend, please call or email the House Revenue Committee members to urge them to release the bill from committee for a hearing by the entire House.

Correction to above – it is HB 106! You’ve referenced it as both 206 and 106. Figured that out, now writing some emails!
