The Amstel House, on 4th Street in New Castle. The house was built in 1738, using a front-gable style that was used in southeast Pennsylvania and the Eastern Shore of Maryland at around the same time. The Doric front doorway likely dates to the 1760s, due to its resemblance to the doorway of Mount Pleasant in Philadelphia. Photo by xzmattzx.
