This is Trump’s standard M.O.
President Trump is reportedly attempting to stop the publication of “Fire and Fury,” Michael Wolff’s explosive new book about his campaign and presidency.
The Washington Post’s Carol Leonnig tweeted early Thursday morning that Trump’s attorneys have sent a cease-and-desist letter to Wolff and book publisher Henry Holt & Company, demanding that they do not publish the book and issue an apology to the president.
Welp, he just guaranteed this book to be a #1 bestseller.
He also sent one to Steve Bannon:
Trump also reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to Bannon late Wednesday, saying that he violated a non-disclosure agreement by speaking with Wolff, and accusing him of making “disparaging” and “outright defamatory” statements.
A statement from Trump attorney Charles Harder said that the president plans to take legal action against Bannon.
First, which Trump genius decided it would be a good idea to give Michael Wolff the run of the West Wing? Second, it’s become clearer that people closest to Trump are the biggest leakers. They were too busy trying to undermine each other to consider their words. *We already knew most of this, btw.
And third, none of this is funny. Trump is a mentally unbalanced, dangerous, completely uninformed moron (I use this word because it’s a favorite among those closest to him) who, unless Republicans intervene, just might get everyone killed.
I read somewhere this AM that Wolff has tapes of the interviews. Besides, this looks as though the government is trying to violate a whole lot of people’s first amendment rights.
Wolff is going to be at the Free Library in Philly on the 16th.
Heard the tapes exist as well, and as ever the truth is the ultimate defense against a charge of slander. As for lawyers sending letters good luck with that, the game only works when played with the average American terrified of legal fees. Suspect this is going to get good, perhaps very good.
AND this book goes on sale 4 days early because of the WH free publicity.
Axios reports it went from 50,000th place on Amazon to 1st place since the story broke.
