Reuters: “Fewer than a third of Americans support Donald Trump’s tax-cut plan, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday, as the U.S. president went to Capitol Hill looking for Republican backing for his proposal to slash tax rates for individuals and companies.”
- Only 28% of Americans support the Republican tax cut plan. 41% oppose it and 31% said they don’t know.
- More than half of the adults surveyed in the poll agreed that “cutting taxes for the poor is more important than reducing the federal deficit,” with 68 percent of Democrats and 47 percent of Republicans in accord with that statement, the poll showed.
- Only 15 percent of registered voters said Republicans in Congress should prioritize tax reform over other issues.
- Only 56% of Republicans and only 9% of Democrats support the Republican tax cut plan.
- Of those who had heard of the plan, 14 percent said it would cut their taxes, while 30 percent said it would increase their taxes. Another 35 percent said their taxes would not change and 20 percent said they did not know how it would impact them.

A new NPR poll finds majorities in many ethnic, identity and racial groups in America believe that discrimination exists against their own group, across many areas of people’s daily lives. Most interesting: 55% of white Americans are among those who feel their group is discriminated against.

Believe the dreaded “tax reform” will not play well with America, the trickle down game is pushing 40 years old and has never worked once, despite endless conservative propaganda. Regardless I think the Republicans will keep pushing it to a conclusion of sorts, predictions of annual trillion dollar deficits or not. It took decades but most Americans seem to have awoken to the conclusion that tax cuts for the rich results in huge deficits and much richer rich people. As for jobs perhaps some in China and Mexico.
