House GOP Has No Problem Politicizing Las Vegas Mass Shooting

Remember all the Republicans saying, “Now is not the time to politicize what happened in Las Vegas!” Remember how distasteful they claimed that was? How inappropriate? How disrespectful? Welp

“As we mourn the lives lost in Las Vegas this week, and welcome Whip Scalise back to Capitol Hill, we are reminded just how precious life is,” the GOP caucus writes in a blog post about new anti-abortion legislation approved by the House on Tuesday. “This message weighed heavily on the hearts of House Republicans as we spoke of the potential of life — especially lives cut short through abortion.”

That sure sounds like politicizing Las Vegas. We really need to stop letting Republicans trot out this meaningless phrase – along with thoughts and prayers.

Oh, and Rep Tim “I wanted my mistress to have an abortion” Murphy voted for the 20 week national ban, as well. Wonder if he tried to add an exception for mistresses? I’m also wondering where all the GOP talk on states’ rights went to. It probably went to the same place as all their talk about deficits being the worst thing ever.

  1. Did you ever have any doubt? If so why? This is what they do, I call it the Karl Rove strategy of trying to make a failure look good and the truth seem bad. For their rabid base it works, they buy more guns and vote to screw themselves in the next election. The corporate media, worthless to a fault, “reports” the lies and then goes back to the latest sensation.

Rep Tim “I wanted my mistress to have an abortion” Murphy had the grace to resign today. But keep in mind the complete hypocrisy of people who would ban abortion AND let SCHIP go unrenewed.
