Rally for Education – No Funding Cuts to Education

Today, 1:00-3:00pm on the east steps of Legislative Hall in Dover, there will be a rally of public education supporters from all corners of the State. It’s a chance to show our state legislators, who have just 7 legislative days remaining in the session, that cutting education funds is not the way to a more prosperous and economically sustainable Delaware.

Public education employs over 19,000 people in the State of Delaware, the vast majority of whom are full-time with benefits, and educates over 130,000 children each year with enrollment continuing to steadily rise. It follows that with more students enrolling, you will need more educators and staff.

Education is the single biggest advantage we can give children and it is one of the top-most functions of government in this state. Our own State laws guarantee the right to a free public education to all and, yes, I know nothing is free, but the price we pay for living in an educated, progressive society is paying for the educational foundation for children.

If you have the afternoon free, please stop by the east side of Leg Hall and see us. And more importantly, make sure your representative and senator know that you do NOT support any cuts to education funding.
