This bill is an Amendment to the Delaware Constitution that simply states:
“No person shall be denied equal rights under the law.”
Simple enough, and yet our Constitution does not have an equal rights provision in it. Just a small oversight, I shall say.
This bill thus is a first leg of the Delaware Constitutional Amendment process. The bill must pass both Houses of the General Assembly by a two-thirds vote this session and then again in the next session, or after the 2018 election.
AN ACT PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE I OF THE DELAWARE CONSTITUTION RELATING TO EQUAL RIGHTS.
