I would like to remind that Democratic lawmaker that standing for the reproductive freedom of all Delawareans is one of the foundational load-bearing beams supporting the house that is the Democratic Party. To vote against SB5 means you are not a progressive, not a liberal, and not a Democrat. If this representative does vote against SB5 on the floor of the House, I will make it my mission in life to defeat him or her in the coming primaries in 2018.
SB5, which would repeal Delaware’s anti-abortion laws that are currently on the books but are unenforceable and void due to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade. If Roe v. Wade were ever to be overturned, these anti-abortion laws would again be active and enforceable. The bill passed the Senate 11-7 with 1 absent and 2 not voting.
