In another piece of legislation that seeks to make Delaware’s campaign disclosure laws be more in line with federal law, Senator Townsend’s SB30 seeks to require the disclosure of a campaign donor’s occupation and employer. This information is already required of federal candidates and it makes sense to require it of state wide candidates since industry donations can be more easily felt on the state level. The reason why occupation and employment information is important to disclose is because it helps to determine whether an industry or company or group is funding a candidate.

I’m good with aligning these requirements, but I still question what this information gives you. I definitely know that my recent employers would NOT appreciate a conclusion drawn about their politics or interests based upon my campaign donations.
