I think that is true, the main is too vain and thin-skinned to not internalize every single barb. The people who are really running the show (Pence, Bannon) are another story all together.
Bannon is actually sensitive to ridicule. He’s glorying right now in all the attention. The media is treating him like he’s really Darth Vader the Sith Lord. He’s parleyed his way onto the NSC. His entire life’s mission is to have his crackpot ideas taken seriously, and right now even his enemies are taking him seriously.
When we finally move on to ridiculing the unshaven, overweight, Jew-hating, wife-beating dweeb who couldn’t make it in the Navy or at Goldman Sachs, and so had to build his political future with wannabe neo-Nazi Facebook addicts, we’ll get to him.
Ridicule is wasted on Pence. He’s a department store mannikin with a fetish for fetus funerals and not enough sense of perspective to even know when he’s being ridiculed.
