Education Voucher King

Representative SteveWhere did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization [than whites]?King, R-IA. One of my favorite legislators. Quite possibly one of the most ignorantly bigoted Members of Congress, not even 3 full days after 45 was inaugurated, Mr. King filed:

H.R.610 – To distribute Federal funds for elementary and secondary education in the form of vouchers for eligible students and to repeal a certain rule relating to nutrition standards in schools.

SEC. 105. EDUCATION VOUCHER PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS.

(a) Education Voucher Program.—

(1) IN GENERAL.—The State shall distribute funds received under this title among the local educational agencies in the State based on the number of eligible children enrolled in the public schools operated by each local educational agency and the number of eligible children within each local educational agency’s geographical area whose parents elect to send their child to a private school or to home-school their child.

(2) SENSE OF CONGRESS.—It is the sense of Congress that States should distribute non-Federal funds for elementary and secondary education in a manner that promotes competition and choices in education.

(b) Identification Of Eligible Children; Allocation And Distribution Of Funds.—

(1) IDENTIFICATION OF ELIGIBLE CHILDREN.—

(A) LEA IDENTIFICATION.—On an annual basis, on a date to be determined by the Secretary, each local educational agency shall inform the State educational agency of—

(i) the number of eligible children enrolled in public schools served by the local educational agency; and

(ii) the number of eligible children within each local educational agency’s geographical area whose parents elect—

(I) to send their child to a private school; or

(II) to home-school their child.

Vouchers. And nixing nutritional standards. But mainly vouchers.

Private school is a choice. Public school is a right. Feel free to send your children to private schools on your own dime.

This is perfectly fine. We won’t need public education when the Trump Youth camps are up and running. That’s all the alternative-education they’ll need. I mean, how much does it take to learn alternative-facts?

  2. Arizona is working on vouchers for everyone, too. We are flying towards “Voucher” schools popping up all over these states.

  3. So now I need to be on the lookout for the political efforts to unwind Education funding. Because if the state is handing over my tax dollars for parent choices, then it looks from here that those parents need to pay and give me back my money. And the money of all of the people who have no choices here.

  4. We need a daytime soap for the Republicans titled “For Love Of Vouchers”, it’s right on up their with “tax credits”, “competition” and of course tax cuts for their rich owners. Ooops! Did I forget “the greatest healthcare system in the world”?
