What is wrong with these people?
I voted for Donald Trump because I wanted to see change in our country. One change I didn’t want to see was access to health care at Planned Parenthood blocked.
But Republican congressional leaders have already promised to do just that, with a provision to stop reimbursements for the health care Planned Parenthood provides.

My vote for Trump was not a vote against Planned Parenthood. I voted for him based on the issues he campaigned on: creating jobs, making health care more affordable, and making our country great again. I voted for him because I trust him to get our economy moving again.
I knew he would have to make promises to appease the anti-abortion wing of the Republican Party. I’m hopeful that Trump will see that defunding Planned Parenthood is the kind of campaign promise he shouldn’t keep. I did not vote to send him to the White House to take away health care from people struggling to get by. People like myself at 25. I’m grateful that Planned Parenthood was there for me, and I want it to be there for every woman who needs it.

AGAIN, yes, you did. Taking health care away from people was the centerpiece of Trump’s (and every other Republican’s) campaign. Hello? Obamacare?
Of course, I can’t rule out the fact that she doesn’t know that Obamacare and the ACA are the same thing. There’s a lot of that going around.
I think there’s more of this in store. And I think Dems need to work this too. In the meantime, quality time with the Tumblr Trumpgrets is always amusing.
The level of sheer stupidity is amazing.
He vocalized his support for PP at a GOP Debate. This isn’t some loon inventing a position for Trump, or being shocked when ACA is getting cut.
And to touch on a greater point, we shouldn’t be using moments like these to mock and ridicule folk. Moments like these are when people are open to new ideas, and we need to engage them and bring them into the fold
While he danced around PP, he always said that PP needed to be defunded. He was consistent on that point and quite clear. Just like he was consistent on repealing the ACA.
My mocking and ridiculing won’t stop Trump supporters from losing their health care, PP, and being laid off when the promised jobs don’t come back. They voted for every bit of this. Shame on them for not paying attention. They are about to learn a hard lesson, and if you voted for Trump I don’t have a lot of sympathy for you or your ignorance. If you didn’t know the policies you were voting for, then you were voting for misogyny, racism and bigotry. It’s either/or. If you paid attention and voted on policy then you supported defunding PP and repealing the ACA. If this is news to you, well… it’s obvious which part of Trump’s message resonated with you.
Here’s what people like this women are really upset about: Trump’s policies (which were as clear as day) will hurt them – not just “other” people.
We’ll all suffer while they learn that painful lesson, and they won’t be open to new ideas until they find themselves suffering right along with those “other” people – you know, the ones who they were okay with losing their health care and jobs.
“Have already promised…” She’s had her head under a rock for the last 15 years then. GOP has been on the anti-PP crusade for far longer than just this election cycle.
I’m fairly confident in saying that this woman likely spent the last 8 years chastising President Obama on campaign promises he didn’t keep, too.

I agree with @ Delaware Left — no matter that we feel that people were stupid or uninformed or even stupidly and willfully uninformed, it is these people, especially in red states, that will help us oppose some of the worst policies about to be put into place. Mocking them just separates us and if we can put aside contempt on an issue or two and encourage single-issue calls to GOP elected officials, we’re stronger on those issues. What long-term or public good does ridicule and isolation serve?
I have no doubt these people will come out and raise hell for their health care and other things that affect them. But it’s done now. Trump will be president tomorrow. These people are about to learn the hard way – and that’s probably the only way they’ll learn, since facts no longer matter.
Seriously, how do you reach people who don’t believe facts? What fact could we have put in front of them when it came to the ACA – a program they were flippin’ enrolled in? or PP (which they use and depend on)? or climate change? I’m at a complete loss.
And there are so many people who will be hurt or die when the platform these people voted for is enacted. Shame is underrated.
Look, I have seen FB posts of friends who apparently believe that someone — the government, Comcast, the FCC, a little man inside the cable box? — is monitoring their television watching habits. And not only that, they are not expressing concern about it. They think that tuning in to NatGeo Wild will depress the ratings for the inauguration tomorrow. I happen to think that’s idiotic (ratings are determined by Nielsen and installing a device in your home — I assumed that was common knowledge among middle-aged suburbanites at the very least). I’ve seen people sharing other idiotic ideas, and these people are not generally idiots. So maybe a whole crap-load of people really weren’t paying attention, and they just got the soundbites at 6 am or 11 pm. If you can’t square giving these people a break, then tell yourself that in reaching out to them on health care or Planned Parenthood or public education or clean drinking water you are taking advantage of their need to serve your own political ends. Does that feel better? /rant
